No new COVID-19 deaths recorded in latest weekly numbers

Clark County’s COVID-19 case rate rose after two weeks of decline, though no deaths from the disease were recorded in the past week.

Clark County Public Health’s June 15 report included 13.2 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population over seven days, up from the 11.8 per 100,000 reported the prior week.

The recent statewide case rate also rose and is still higher than Clark County’s rate. As of June 15, Washington had 15.4 cases per 100,000 population, up from 12.7 per 100,000 reported the prior week.

Recent case rates lag behind the most recent counts of cases. The health department’s most recent case rate was based on activity from May 30 to June 5.

Clark County Public Health tallied 68 additional cases between June 8 and June 15, one fewer than the 69 recorded between June 1 and June 8. The county’s case total includes 113,944 confirmed and probable cases in Clark County since the outbreak began, although that number does not include at-home tests, which often go unreported.



Clark County Public Health’s June 15 report did not include any COVID-19-related deaths since its report the prior week. Over the course of the three prior weeks, only three confirmed COVID-19 deaths were reported.

With the lack of any more to record, the total of Clark County’s COVID-19 dead remains at 1,051, which includes 901 confirmed and 150 suspected deaths.

The number of COVID-19 patients occupying hospital beds in Clark County decreased in the latest data. As of June 15, 7.3% of beds had either patients with confirmed COVID-19 or patients awaiting test results, less than the 8.7% reported on June 8. The number of intensive care unit beds occupied by COVID-19 patients and patients awaiting test results rose to 6%, compared to 4.2% from the prior week.

New COVID-19 hospital admissions saw a second-straight week of increase. In its June 15 report, the health department reported 2 admissions per 100,000 population in the past seven days, more than the 0.8 per 100,000 the prior week.

Clark County’s share of COVID-19 cases and deaths stayed about the same in the latest data. According to the Washington State Department of Health, the county had about 5.8% of cases and about 6.5% of deaths in Washington.
