Oktoberfest, Experience Ridgefield highlight a weekend of festivities

Ridgefield held a host of activities across the city on Sept. 11, with multiple annual events taking place on the same day.

Beginning with Ridgefield School District’s “Experience Ridgefield” in the morning, events were held collectively under the city’s “Really Big Day” event, which provided activities for all ages.

Following a commemoration at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center 20 years prior, the Port of Ridgefield hosted an official opening of its rail overpass project at Overlook Park. The overpass connects the city’s waterfront with its downtown.

In the afternoon, attendees gathered at the park for Ridgefield Main Street’s annual Oktoberfest celebration. Food, music and racing dachshunds capped off the celebrations, which returned after a year’s hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
