PeaceHealth recently secured the number one spot for the Healthiest Employer in Washington award and received national recognition as one of the healthiest 100 workplaces in the nation.

The award for the healthiest employer in Washington was for organizations with 5,000 employees or more.

The awards given by Healthiest Employers and Springbuk acknowledge PeaceHealth’s employee health and wellness programs that span all of its facilities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, according to a new release.

There were more than 10,000 employers around the nation who participated in the awards program, which measured health outcomes, leadership commitment and employee participation.

“This recognition is especially meaningful this year as we approach two years of navigating and adapting to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, our caregivers have continued to provide exceptional care for our patients, as well as prioritize caring for themselves and each other — bringing to life our culture of wellness and serving as an inspiration to so many,” said Sarah Ness, PeaceHealth senior vice president and chief of staff. “As the largest employer in many of our areas, our caregivers are making a real difference. They exemplify our mission and play such an important leadership role in the overall health and well-being of our communities.”

According to the release, PeaceHealth’s wellness program takes a holistic approach by focusing on nutrition, financial health, stress management and the physical fitness of its employees.

PeaceHealth also launched a more robust employee assistance program earlier this year which aims to provide greater access to personalized mental health support that is evidence-based and culturally responsive.

“These programs are in addition to the resources that have been available to support the needs of caregivers and families during the COVID-19 pandemic, including medical benefit enhancements and emergency funds for those impacted,” stated the release.

PeaceHealth is one of only five health systems in the Pacific Northwest to receive this year’s national designation. Overall, it ranked 46th place in the country. It’s the fourth year in a row PeaceHealth made the national list and the third year in a row to receive the top ranking in Washington, stated the release.
