Pedestrian struck in Battle Ground, stretch of eastbound Main Street closed for hours

The Battle Ground Police Department responded to an incident where a man was struck by a vehicle at 8:17 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, at the intersection of West Main Street and Southwest 15th Avenue.

As of press time, the pedestrian remains in an area hospital with serious injuries.

According to a news release by the City of Battle Ground, preliminary details indicate the pedestrian, an adult male, was crossing southbound on West Main Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The driver remained at the scene while the adult male was transported to an area hospital, the release added.

As of Friday, Nov. 29, the investigation remained on-going. The city stated that the driver is not suspected of being impaired at the time of the incident.

“Due to the seriousness of the pedestrian’s injuries, Washington State Patrol is assisting the Battle Ground Police Department with the investigation,” the release stated.

No further information was available as of press time.

“The Battle Ground Police Department would like to remind pedestrians and drivers to obey all traffic control devices,” the release stated. “Additionally, police would like to remind pedestrians to wear bright-colored clothing, especially those with reflective material, when traveling along roadways and in marked crosswalks.”
