Portland man charged with vehicular homicide for crash that killed Woodland man

A 50-year-old man from Woodland was killed in a rollover crash at state Route 500 and Interstate 205 in Vancouver on Wednesday, Feb. 1. 

Dennis J. Coplin, the passenger of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was reported shortly before 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 1, according to a Washington State Patrol memo. 

A 2018 Kia Stinger driven by Warren S. Dickinson was traveling westbound on state Route 500 as it exited to southbound Interstate 205. The vehicle left the roadway, struck the barrier and rolled onto the southbound shoulder of the interstate. 



Dickinson, 48, of Portland, was injured and transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Clinic. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, according to WSP. Drugs or alcohol were believed to be involved.

Both of the men were wearing their seatbelts. The Kia was totaled. 

The cause of the accident was determined to be wheels off the roadway, according to WSP.
