Last week, the Prairie Falcons concluded their 3A Greater St. Helens softball league play with two wins and a loss to end 7-1 in league with districts starting this week.

On Monday, May 6, the Falcons played a home game against Heritage High School at Heritage High School. The matchup with Heritage resulted in a 6-1 win with senior pitcher Rylee Wall pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts. The Falcons combined for seven hits during the game, as well.

“We didn’t have all our bodies today, and so everybody came in and played their role and did a really good job, and I think it was a good team effort,” Falcons head coach Robyn Mask said.

The Falcons followed their efforts with a 5-0 win on Wednesday, May 8 with Wall allowing just three hits in a complete game in the circle. Prairie sophomore Mackenzie Moore recorded three of the team’s nine hits.

On Friday, May 10, Prairie’s perfect league record came to a close with a 6-5 loss to Kelso High School. Moore pitched for six innings allowing six runs, six hits and six strikeouts. She also added two hits and two runs scored while junior Payton Blunt added three hits.

“We’re just hoping to keep getting better,” Mask said. “We’ve gotten better since the beginning of this year, so we’re hoping to keep that moving and continue to have quality, make good plays on defense and support our pitching.”

As of press time, matchups for the District 3/4 Tournament were not available. The tournament will be held at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey from Thursday, May 16, through Saturday, May 18.
