A public community meeting will be hosted by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, and the Gifford Pinchot and Mount Hood national forests to share information about proposed changes to the Northwest Forest Plan, along with the draft environmental impact statement, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service.
The meeting will be on Feb. 13 and will be held at the Stevenson Community Library, which is at 120 NW Vancouver Ave., Stevenson.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the meeting will last from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
According to the news release, the Northwest Forest Plan was created in 1994 to conserve habitat for wildlife and forests while supporting local communities. Now, the Forest Service is amending the plan to address modern problems, such as wildfire risks and economic needs.
