Ridgefield Raptors: America’s favorite pastime returns for the summer

The Ridgefield Raptors have entered their sixth season of play and their seventh year in the community.

This year, management is looking forward to some new additions at the park.

Ridgefield Raptors Executive Vice President of Operations Gus Farah said there is some new excitement at the park on opening day of play in the West Coast League, a collegiate summer woodbat baseball league.

“We got kettle corn. We got ice cream. We have a bento wagon for chicken, beef and pork,” Farah said. “There’s good spirits around here. We’ve had a good staff for a long time and they just show up and know how to put this on.”

The Raptors are again with coaches Chris Cota and Nick Allen. Farrah said having the same two lead coaches since the first season is a huge advantage for the playoff-competing franchise.

Throughout the season, the Raptors will have $3 Tuesdays and free entry for kids 12 and under on Sundays. The $3 Tuesdays feature general admission tickets, hot dogs, nachos and domestic canned beer at $3 for every Tuesday home game.

The annual favorites have returned, as well. Thursday, July 10, will be First Responders Night with the jersey auction, followed by the Pink Lemonade Night jersey auction on Thursday, July 17. On Sunday, July 27, the Raptors will host Military Appreciation Day with all active military and veterans receiving free general admission by showing their military ID at the ticket gate.

The Raptors will also debut a post-game drone show on Friday, July 25.

“Every year, we try to add a little bit to make it better to make it a better entertainment presentation to the fans,” Farah said. “But it’s still family affordable entertainment and it’s a gathering place for Southwest Washington.”
