Clark County’s baseball team the Ridgefield Raptors began its season with a packed house at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex on Thursday, May 30.
The Raptors, a collegiate wood bat summer league team that is part of the West Coast League, played against its rival from up the river, the Cowlitz Black Bears, in an exhibition match before league play began in Portland over the weekend. They lost, 4-1, to the Bears, but the sights and sounds of summer baseball in Ridgefield brought a lot of excitement and energy to the crowd.
From lawn chair areas to picnic tables, seatbacks and benches above the dugouts, fans have their options for watching when heading to the RORC for America’s pastime. Each week, the Raptors offer $3 Tuesday games, which feature hot dogs, select canned beer and more for sale. Also, every Sunday game, kids 12 and under get in for free with a paid adult.
Promotions appear throughout the schedule as well, as the Raptors head into year six in Ridgefield. Favorite promos will take place all summer long, including local wine night, first responder night and jersey auction, Pink Lemonade night and jersey auction and more. The next home series for the Ridgefield Raptors, against the Yakima Valley Pippins, takes place Tuesday, June 11, through Thursday, June 13, with each first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m.
