A single-vehicle crash off of state Route 503 left a 19-year-old motorist dead after going off the road, police say.
At about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, the Washington State Patrol reported to milepost 13 of Route 502, north of Lewisville Park. The vehicle, driven by Hayden Wellman, of Yacolt, was northbound when it left the roadway, struck a sign and a tree on the right shoulder.
Wellman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. As of the WSP report, it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
