StreamTeam’s MADD celebration to feature self-led activities, raffle prizes

The community is invited to celebrate Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 23, which is day of community service.

The Clark Public Utilities StreamTeam is leading the effort and offering volunteer opportunities to clean up, restore and preserve the local environment, stated a news release. With the ongoing pandemic, this year’s event will feature self-led activities for volunteers.

“We’ll miss seeing everyone in person, but we’re also excited about making this year’s day a self-led event because it’ll spread the joy and good work throughout the entire county,” said StreamTeam Program Coordinator Maddy Lou.

The event includes a list of 20 challenges for volunteers to take part in. Once a person has completed an activity, they are encouraged to send the StreamTeam a photo for a chance to win prizes.

“Each activity has a different score value, which corresponds with the number of submissions into the raffle you’ll get for completing that activity,” stated the release. “Completing more time intensive activities could get you entered up to three time for just one activity.”

StreamTeam has partnered with Source Climbing Center, EYE Clothing Company, and the Vancouver Wellness Studio, among others, for prizes like rock climbing classes, hoodies and an one-hour massage.

Activities include bird watching, picking up track, going on a hike, or planting a tree.

The full list of activities is available online at streamteam.net.

Submissions will be accepted from Friday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 24. Raffle winners will be contacted between Monday and Wednesday the following week. The first name drawn will have first choice for prizes, the second name drawn will have the second choice and so on.

Participants are encouraged to share photos on Instagram or Facebook by tagging @clarkpud and using the hashtag #MADD2021, or the photos can be emailed to streamteam@clarkpud.com

Winners of raffle prizes will be contacted through whichever platform the photos were submitted through. If the person does not respond in within 24 hours, they will not receive the prize.
