Two motorcyclists suffered significant injuries in two separate collisions reported on Sunday, July 18.

The first incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. in Ridgefield. A news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said a motorcycle and vehicle collided at the intersection of Northeast 10th Avenue and Northeast 189th Street.

Upon arrival, it was determined the driver of a 2003 Subaru Forester, identified as Jeremiah Cunningham, 35, of Woodland, made a left turn onto Northeast 189th Street directly into the path of a southbound motorcycle. The motorcyclist, identified as Michael Schefter, 67, of Portland, suffered significant injuries and was transported to an area hospital, stated the release.

Cunningham was cooperative with law enforcement and did not exhibit signs of impairment, stated the release. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.

The second incident, which occurred at 10 p.m. on Sunday, took place at Hockinson Meadows County Park on Northeast 172nd Avenue in Hockinson.

A 911 caller reported a collision in the parking lot involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Deputies learned a group of young adults had been hanging out in the park when Yekaterina Andriuschenko, 20, of Vancouver, asked to drive a friend’s motorcycle.

Andriuschenko reportedly got onto the motorcycle and accelerated rapidly through the parking lot, striking a parked car, stated the release.

She was ejected from the motorcycle, suffered multiple significant injuries, and was transported to an area hospital, stated the release. She was reportedly not wearing a helmet during the time of the collision.
