The Vancouver Volcanoes, a professional basketball team in The Basketball League (TBL) Pacific Northwest Western Division, are beginning their 2025 season with a pair of tryouts ahead of training camp in February.

The team will be hosting tryouts for the 2025 roster on two Saturdays, on Dec. 21, and on Jan. 25. The TBL draft will be on Feb. 2. Following the draft, training camp will be held from Feb. 7 through Feb. 9, a press release by the team stated. The final roster will be set on Feb. 10. Tryouts will be open to local collegiate and semi-professional players in the Vancouver area for half price. Registrations are now open on the team website, vancouvervolcanoes.com/team/.

The Vancouver Volcanoes stated they are aiming to build on the successes of last season both on the floor and in the community. The professional basketball team finished first in the TBL Pacific Northwest Western Division, marking their most successful campaign since returning to Vancouver in 2021.

The Volcanoes saw back-to-back playoff appearances in 2024 and also became home to Portland-native and TBL All-Star Marcus Golder, the release stated. The Volcanoes also have five players playing professional basketball around the world from the 2024 roster: Tyshon Pickett (Mexico), Carson Newsome (Malta), Thomas Miles (Germany), Xavier Dupree (Columbia) and Vincent Boumann (Mexico). Depending on their availability, they may return to the Volcanoes team in the upcoming 2025 season, the team stated.
