The Washington State Patrol is looking for people who witnessed three men assault a 50-year-old Vancouver man just before 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the bottom of an off-ramp on northbound Interstate 5 in Hazel Dell.

The victim, who does not want to be identified publicly, suffered severe facial and head injuries after a road-rage type incident led to the assault.

WSP stated the Vancouver man stopped at the bottom of the 78th Street exit ramp from I-5 to confront the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf. During the confrontation, the man driving the Golf and two male passengers exited the vehicle and began beating the victim.

Shortly after the assault began, the men left the scene, stated WSP. They turned right onto 78th Street toward Highway 99.

WSP is looking for the driver and passengers of the silver Volkswagen Golf, which had the word “FUKENGRUVEN” in large white letters across the back window.

Anyone who traveled through the area with dash-cam video recorders between 9:20 and 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 10 is asked to review their recordings for the fleeing vehicle.

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Justin Maier at 360-449-7941 or email justin.maier@wsp.wa.gov
