Waste Connections is seeking volunteers to help build 700 bikes, which will be donated to local organizations providing holiday toys to families in need. The bike build will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Clark County Event Center, Exhibit Hall A, 17402 NE Delfel Road, Ridgefield.
The event will conclude when all bikes are built, typically around 11 a.m., a press release by Vancouver Clinic stated.
The annual bike build is part of the Scott Campbell Promise. Campbell, a longtime Waste Connections employee, started the bike build 14 years ago with 100 bicycles and 20 volunteers, the press release stated.
“Scott passed away seven years ago, and it was his Christmas Promise to move the community forward, always thinking of the community, so we all promised, no matter what, we'd always have a Bike Build,” a Waste Connections spokesperson said in the press release.
