Who’s in? Basketball postseason begins this week

Several North Clark County area basketball teams have landed postseason berths, with district and bi-district rounds beginning Wednesday, Feb. 12.

A total of four boys basketball squads and two girls teams found their way into the district and bi-district rounds of the postseason.

Prairie Falcons boys

The 3A Greater St. Helens League (GSHL) champions of Prairie High School finished the regular season at 13-7 with a 6-2 league record. They begin their District 3/4 3A journey at home on Wednesday, Feb. 12, against Lakes High School at 7 p.m. Depending on the outcome of that game, the Falcons will play the winner or loser of Silas and Federal Way high schools on Friday, Feb. 14, with the time and location to be determined.

Woodland Beavers girls

The Woodland Beavers girls team earned second place in the 2A GSHL with a 15-4 overall record and a 12-2 league record. The Beavers will host the winner of R.A. Long High School versus Tumwater High School on Friday, Feb. 14, with the time to be determined, in the District 4 2A girls basketball tournament. With a win, the Beavers would play the winner of Ridgefield High School and W.F. West High School at W.F. West High School on Monday, Feb. 17, with the time to be determined. With a loss, they face the loser of that matchup on Feb. 17 at Centralia High School.

Ridgefield Spudders boys



The Ridgefield Spudders boys basketball team earned fourth place in the 2A GSHL with an overall record of 13-7 and a 9-6 league record. In the District 4 2A boys basketball tournament, the Spudders travel to Black Hills High School on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 5 p.m. With a win, they play on Tuesday, Feb. 18, against the winner of Mark Morris High School and the winner of Hockinson and W.F. West in the pigtail round. With a loss, they will play the loser of that matchup on Feb. 18 at Centralia High School.

Ridgefield Spudders girls

The Ridgefield Spudders girls basketball team earned fourth place in the 2A GSHL with a 9-10 overall record and a 9-5 league record. In the District 4 2A girls basketball tournament, the Spudders travel W.F. West High School on Friday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. With a win, on Monday, Feb. 17, they will play the winner of Woodland High School against the winner of R.A. Long High School versus Tumwater High School in the pigtail round. With a loss, they play the same matchup possibility on Monday, Feb. 17, at Centralia High School.

Hockinson Hawks boys

The Hockinson Hawks enter the pigtail round of the District 4 2A boys basketball tournament after earning sixth place in the 2A GSHL with a 6-14 overall record and 4-10 league record. They play at W.F. West High School on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. With a win, they move on to play at Mark Morris High School on Saturday, Feb. 15, with the time to be determined.

La Center Wildcats boys

The La Center Wildcats boys basketball squad earned the third seed from the 1A Trico League with a 13-7 overall record and 9-5 record in league play. The Wildcats will begin the District 4 1A boys basketball tournament at Tenino High School on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. With a win, they play against the winner of the Evergreen Conference’s fourth seed, which was still to be determined as of press time, and Seton Catholic High School on Wednesday, Feb. 19. With a loss, they will play the loser of that matchup on Feb. 19.
