The Woodland High School Advanced Placement American government class invites residents to join a Civic Power Hour from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Woodland High School Commons.
The interactive event for the community aims to “empower citizens with knowledge and tools to actively participate in local government and decision-making processes,” according to a news release. The event will include a panel discussion with people familiar with issues facing Woodland today. The panel includes Travis Goddard, Woodland Public Works; Woodland Mayor Todd Dinehart; and local resident Donna Butler. The Civic Power Hour will focus on key local topics, such as upcoming town projects and initiatives, as well as zoning and housing issues. An open question-and-answer session will follow the panel. .
According to the news release, Woodland High School AP government teacher Shari Conditt stated in the release that Civic Power Hour also “helps us see that diverse perspectives and opinions can be shared using a civil dialogue framework.”
