A Woodland woman has died following a car-versus-truck crash east of Ridgefield on Aug. 30, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release published Friday, the sheriff’s office reported that at about 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 30 deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the intersection of Northeast 29th Avenue and Northeast 259th Street. Responders attended to Jackie Mizer, 72, of Woodland, who was in her car in a ditch on the north side of Northeast 259th Street.

A witness stated Mizer’s vehicle was heading northbound on Northeast 29th Avenue and pulled onto Northeast 259th Street into the path of a Freightliner truck driven by Kieth Tyrrell, 29, of Vancouver, the sheriff’s office reported. Northeast 29th Avenue is controlled by a stop sign at the intersection.

Tyrrell braked hard to avoid Mizer’s vehicle, but hit its left side, sending it into the ditch, the sheriff’s office reported. Tyrrell stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Mizer was transported to an area hospital with injuries, and later the sheriff’s office learned she had died at the hospital.

The collision is under investigation by the sheriff’s office traffic unit.
