Yacolt council appointments make primary race moot

Posted

Though the race is on the August Primary Election ballot, recent resignations from Yacolt Town Council have put one candidate for council position 3 in a different seat and another candidate for the position in another.

On July 6, Ronald Homola, one of three candidates on the ballot for position 3, was appointed to the vacant position 4 seat, according to council minutes. The seat was vacated by longtime councilor Herb Noble, who announced his resignation on June 4 since he is moving out of the city.

On the same day as Homola’s appointment, Malita Moseley, the councilor for position 3, resigned, according to council documents.

On July 12, Joshua Beck, a second candidate for position 3, was appointed to the seat.

Homola’s position 4 seat isn’t up for election until 2023. The election for position 3 will continue as planned, with Beck seeking to retain his seat against challenger Rhonda Rowe-Tice.
