Yacolt man dies in crash on Northeast Lucia Falls Road

A man from Yacolt died after the vehicle he was traveling in exited the roadway and struck several trees on Feb. 4. 

Steven Woolsey, 51, of Yacolt, was in the front passenger seat of a 2000 Toyota Tacoma driven by 48-year-old Ronda Knapp on Northeast Lucia Falls Road in Yacolt when the vehicle exited the road to the south and hit the trees.

Both Woolsey and Knapp had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel, stated a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.



Woolsey died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts, while Knapp sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, stated the release. Knapp was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Speed and alcohol are contributing factors in the collision, stated the release. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the crash that took place at about 9:10 p.m. on Feb. 4.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office, Clark County Fire District 3, Clark County Fire District 13 and North Country EMS responded.
