For the longest time, Ridgefield residents did not have a standalone car wash, auto parts store, tire center and even the new age of drive-thru oil change businesses.
Ridgefield has had all-around car service through Bob’s Automotive for 30 years, but now the offerings are starting to grow while the city continues to experience drastic changes in its commercial landscape.
After a recent pre-application conference was held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, Ridgefield residents may be able to check off all of the aforementioned vehicle-centric businesses as spots they can drive to within city limits. And the development activity is even taking place in nearly the same area.
While the Les Schwab Tire Center in Ridgefield’s Discovery Ridge Shopping Center has been open for a couple of years now, a full-service, multi-business hub for car care is starting to take shape on the land around it.
On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the city of Ridgefield held a pre-application conference for an O’Reilly Auto Parts Store location directly north of Les Schwab, labeled as Lot 11 in the Discovery Ridge Shopping Center plans. The proposed O’Reilly Auto Parts Store would be 7,385 square feet, if plans advance.
Just southwest of the Les Schwab location resides a nearly finished WashKings Car Wash location at 411 S. 47th Ave.
The Wash Kings website states the location is “opening soon.”
Directly next to the Wash Kings location on the active development map states “Reed’s Automotive.” However, there is no available information regarding the Reed’s Automotive project on the city’s active development map. But site plans attached to the Wash Kings project illustrate a drive-thru oil change and a separate, standalone retail business.
In the up-and-coming Royle Ridge mixed-use project on the north side of Pioneer Street from the Discovery Ridge Shopping Center, site plans detail a “Take 5 Oil Change” location. The drive-thru oil change business is proposed to join Grocery Outlet and Fibre Federal Credit Union as business tenants in the Royle Ridge Station and Royle Ridge East projects. Vertical site plans for the Take 5 drive-thru oil change show the proposal for three drive-in bays.
