Administrative changes announced at Battle Ground Public Schools

Battle Ground Public Schools has announced the following changes in school administration for the 2023-2024 school year. All personnel assignments have been approved by the school board and took effect on July 1, unless noted otherwise.

 

Battle Ground Virtual Academy

Kevin Palena is now serving as the school’s principal, in addition to continuing his role as the principal at Summit View High School.

Prairie High School



Stephanie Watts replaced Manny Melo, who resigned, as the school’s assistant principal and athletic director. Watts was formerly the director of human resources.

More administrative changes

Luke LeCount will become the district’s new director of human resources, pending board approval as of July 11. Previously, he was the director of instructional leadership for middle schools.

Travis Drake, current director of instructional leadership for high schools and alternative learning environments, also will provide middle school instructional leadership during the 2023-2024 school year. The position of director of instructional leadership for middle schools will not be posted, the district stated.
