District baseball tournaments wrapped up last week with season-ending results for all north Clark County teams as Battle Ground, Prairie, Woodland, Ridgefield and La Center fell short of state tournament berths.
In the 4A District 3/4 tournament, Battle Ground stayed alive through the consolation bracket before falling one game short of state. The Tigers opened district play with a narrow 2-1 loss to Curtis High School on Tuesday, May 12. Battle Ground rebounded with a 2-0 elimination win over Kentridge High School on Wednesday, May 13, to keep its season alive. The Tigers’ postseason run came to an end on Saturday, May 16, in a 5-3 loss to Kennedy Catholic High School in a winner-to-state matchup.
In the 3A District 4 tournament, Prairie’s season ended after a 3-0 loss to Kelso High School on Wednesday, May 13.
In the 2A District 4 tournament, Woodland’s season ended in the pigtail round. The Beavers fell 5-1 to Aberdeen High School on May 9.
Ridgefield advanced deep into the 2A district consolation bracket after opening tournament play against eventual district champion Tumwater High School. The Spudders fell 4-2 to Tumwater on Tuesday, May 12, before bouncing back with a 1-0 elimination victory over Mark Morris High School on Wednesday, May 13. Ridgefield’s season ended Saturday, May 16, in an 8-2 loss to W.F. West High School.
La Center will not return to the state tournament after a pair of losses in the 1A District 4 tournament. The Wildcats did open district play with a 4-3 win over Elma High School on Monday, May 11, before falling 10-0 to Montesano High School in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 12. Facing elimination, La Center advanced to a winner-to-state game against Castle Rock High School on Friday, May 15. The Wildcats fell 3-2.
