As the regular season comes to a close, area boys baseball teams are starting to add extra games to their schedule with postseason berths.

In the 4A Greater St. Helens League (GSHL), the Battle Ground Tigers clinched their first league title since 2017, which will land them a favorable seed in the District 3/4 baseball tournament. The tournament is slated to begin on Tuesday, May 12, with Battle Ground likely hosting a game in Clark County. However, seeding and matchups were not determined as of press time.

In the 3A GSHL, the Prairie Falcons earned third place in league play. The 3A GSHL will host their own tournament, with the Falcons scheduled to face off on the road against Kelso High School on Wednesday, May 13, at 4:30 p.m. at Rister Stadium in a loser out match.

In the 2A GSHL, the Ridgefield Spudders found themselves at 9-3 in league play, good for a tie for the top spot with the Columbia River Rapids. The Spudders began a crucial league series against Mark Morris High School, who were 7-5 in league entering the week. Results from the Monday, May 4, matchup were not available at press time, but the series concludes in Longview at Mark Morris High School on Wednesday, May 6, at 4:30 p.m.

The Woodland Beavers entered a critical series against the Washougal Panthers on Monday, May 4, and are scheduled to conclude at home on Wednesday, May 6, at 4:30 p.m. The Beavers entered the series in sixth place — the final postseason spot — while the Panthers sat at fifth place. Close behind, the Hudson’s Bay Eagles are also playing to sneak into the sixth seed this week.

The Hockinson Hawks’ season concludes on Wednesday, May 6, at home at 4:30 p.m. against the Columbia River Rapids. The Hawks entered the week in last place at 1-11 in league action.

If the Beavers enter either as the sixth seed or fifth seed, they will begin the 2A District 4 tournament on Saturday, May 9, in the pigtail round. The Spudders’ postseason journey is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 12, but seeding and matchups were not determined at press time.

In the 1A Trico League, the La Center Wildcats began a battle for a possible league title on Tuesday, May 5, against Seton Catholic College Preparatory, but results were unavailable at press time. The series against the Seton Catholic Cougars is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, May 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the Harmony Sports Complex in Vancouver.

Either as the first or second seed, the Wildcats’ postseason journey in the 1A District 4 tournament is scheduled to begin at home on Monday, May 11. Matchups were not determined at press time.
