Battle Ground controls their destiny after series win against league opponent Skyview

The Battle Ground Tigers baseball squad won two out of three last week against Skyview High School fueled by junior James Gill III’s lightning performance on the mound.

In the Tigers’ matchup against the Storm on Thursday, April 24, Gill hurled a seven-inning complete game shutout in the 4A Greater St. Helens clash. He threw just 74 pitches with eight strikeouts, no walks and gave up just three hits in the 4-0 win.

Gill also added three doubles at the plate to help his cause on the mound. Jayden Sivits added three hits with a double and three RBIs for the Tigers.



On Tuesday, April 22, Battle Ground beat Skyview in a 6-4 matchup to help win the series after the first game loss, 9-3, on Monday, April 21.

The Tigers face off against the Union Titans to conclude league play with games on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, but results were unavailable as of press time. Battle Ground concludes their league slate with an away matchup against Union High School to conclude the series on Thursday, May 1, at 4:30 p.m.
