Battle Ground native named GNAC volleyball offensive player of the week

Battle Ground’s Bethany Tuchardt was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s volleyball offensive player of the week by the league office on Sept. 18.

Battle Ground High School graduate and transfer from Highline College now plays volleyball for the University of Alaska Anchorage. As a junior outside hitter, Tuchardt averaged 3.31 kills per set on .475 hitting as UAA won 12 sets and dropped only one against non-conference competition at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Tuchardt hit .429 or better in all four contests during the first day of the invitational, starting with eight kills in a sweep of Union. She ripped a personal best 14 kills on .565 hitting and set another career-high of 16 points with four block assists in a 3-0 win over Ouachita Baptist, a release by UAA stated.



The next day of the invitational, Tuchardt hit .500 with four block assists in a sweep of Arkansas Monticello, and she finished with a new career best of 16 kills on .429 hitting in a 3-1 win over Henderson State, which had entered with a 9-2 record and eight straight wins, the release stated.
