The Battle Ground Police Department (BGPD) has launched a new initiative called S.O.C.K., also known as Strengthening Outreach, Community and Kindness, to provide socks to students in need across the Battle Ground School District.
The program began after sock company Bombas donated more than 450 pairs of socks to the department through its national giving program. The socks will be distributed by BGPD’s School Resource Officers, who work closely with local schools to identify students in need of support, a City of Battle Ground news release stated.
The initiative aims to offer comfort, hygiene and confidence to students, with each receiving up to five pairs of new socks. BGPD officials said the effort reflects their goal of building trust and kindness through small but meaningful acts of service.
