Battle Ground resident spreads positivity through social media, notes across the city

Fallon Taylor, a resident of Battle Ground, is doing her part to spread positivity throughout the community.

Taylor has created a Facebook group, titled Battle Ground Kindness, which has over 780 members who are looking to achieve one mission: to uplift those around them.

“My main goal with the whole thing behind creating it is I’ve seen so, so, so much negativity in the world and on social media,” Taylor said about her page.

If just one person is impacted by her efforts, she said it makes it worthwhile. The page calls on all of its “kindness crusaders” to make the world a better place.

“My whole goal with it is to bring positivity into the community and bring everyone together and trying to make us even more like a family,” Taylor said. “And hopefully bring more acts of kindness into the community because I don’t see a whole lot of them, unfortunately, and I think that even just one life changed is a big deal.”

Outside of her closely monitored Facebook group, Taylor also disperses notes for people to find throughout the city in hopes it’ll make someone’s day better. She typically places between 10 to 15 notes a week, which sometimes include small gifts, in locations like grocery stores, on car windshields or by handing them to people who look like they are having a bad day.

On the fifth day of every month, Taylor holds a basket giveaway on her Facebook page. The effort is called “BEYOUtiful Basket Giveaway.”

The baskets include helpful items and are full of small items of things that may spark joy in others.

In her Battle Ground Kindness group, Taylor and others post positive-oriented quotes and upcoming events. She also said posts focused on helping others, like crowdfunding campaigns, are common. People sometimes give away items for free to bring smiles to people’s faces.

“I just wish more people would focus less on being upset and worrying about just themselves, and start expressing more love and caring nature for other people around them,” Taylor said. “It would be nice if more people would join in and try to make it a bigger thing because we are a little town.”

Taylor’s Facebook group can be found by searching Battle Ground Kindness. While the group is not exclusive to Battle Ground residents, those who want to win a monthly giveaway basket must live in the city.
