Battle Ground Rotary’s Festival of Wreaths and Wine returns online, auction begins first week of December

The Battle Ground Rotary Club’s annual holiday season auction, dubbed the Festival of Wreaths and Wine, returns in a virtual format this time around.

The auction fundraiser supports the services and assistance provided to the community, the Rotary Club’s Dan and Becky Hanenkrat said.

“Every club kind of has a different heart,” Dan Hanenkrat said. “Our club has a heart for the North Clark County Food Bank, Meals on Wheels locally here, the high school students. We do scholarship funds for them and then the Rock Solid Teen Center. We’ve also partnered with Battle Ground Healthcare. We maintain Main Street. We do a couple of cleanups every year around the Old Town of Main Street.”

The club does much more around the community and abroad, too.

“We also use our fundraiser funds to help fund international needs,” Dan Hanenkrat said. “We have a heart for the people that are unsheltered because of earthquakes, other natural disasters or refugees. There’s many agencies that provide services for them that are healthcare and food, but you know, you can’t keep a family intact unless you have housing. So we have a heart for that.”

The items available to be bid on in the Festival of Wreaths and Wine can be viewed now, while the official auction kicks off on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 6. Items in the auction include live wreaths, wine baskets, date night experiences, a night out at Ridgefield Raptors baseball, even handyman services and “Rotary at Your Service,” and more.

Drinks from six local wineries are available for a sip-and-bid silent auction. The wineries include the Columbia Ridge Winery, Emanar Cellars, Confluence Winery, 14 Acres Winery and Vineyards, Stavalaura Vineyards and Winery and Lane Cellars. Visitors to those wineries can enjoy a tasting and place their bids in person, Becky Hanenkrat said.

“Every Rotary club does a fundraiser, right?” said Becky Hanenkrat. “Because that is the heart of Rotary. We do fundraisers and the money goes back into the community or internationally.”
