Battle Ground Art Alliance (BGAA) is honoring the legacy of Diane Springer, a retired teacher and dedicated arts advocate, with an art supply drive for River HomeLink, a K-12 Battle Ground school.

Materials from the art supply drive will be donated directly to teachers and students at River HomeLink as part of Springer’s wish to increase art accessibility in the community.

“A few months before Diane passed away, she expressed an interest in providing a BGAA art material drive for our local schools,” BGAA member and supply drive organizer Connie Ford said.

BGAA held its first art supply drive in Springer’s name in January, donating to the Gardner School of Arts and Sciences in Vancouver, Ford said. The initiative followed Springer’s death in December 2024.

Springer, a long-time BGAA board member, often emphasized the importance of community art initiatives. As a mixed media artist, specializing in gourds, Springer shared her skills through Clark County by teaching classes. She also founded the monthly “Art Chat” held at the Battle Ground Community Library, which brings local artists together for collaboration and inspiration, Ford said.

“She inspired all of us with the way she transferred her creativity to other forms of art,” Ford said.

Material donations may be dropped off at Cheryl’s Art Barn, located at 12911 Northeast 87th Ave., Vancouver by calling 360-433-7497. Supplies may also be taken to BGAA member Connie Ford’s studio, located at 23019 NE 182 Ave., Battle Ground, by calling 360-904-1230. Donations will be accepted through Saturday, March 1.
