A Battle Ground High School social studies teacher is on administrative leave pending investigation after a social media post was shared on Thursday, Sept. 11, alleging a negative interaction between students after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of conservative activist organization Turning Point USA.

Amanda Gonzales (Fulfer), listed on the Battle Ground High School staff website as a social studies teacher, is allegedly on administrative leave after she laughed to students about Charlie Kirk’s death and said, “I have no sympathy for Nazis,” according to the Sept. 11 Facebook post by Tyler Long, host of “Unmasked,” a Christian podcast.

Gonzales was also listed as the vice president of the Battle Ground Education Association, according to a screenshot attached to the Facebook post by Long. As of Friday, Sept. 12, the vice president slot on the Battle Ground Education Association sat blank.

The Reflector emailed the Battle Ground Public Schools (BGPS) district for more information regarding the social media claims.

“We are aware of the allegation and an investigation is currently taking place,” BGPS Communications Manager Amanda Richter stated in an email. “As this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide further information.”

Richter later confirmed on Sept. 12 that the school district had placed Gonzales on administrative leave.
