Buy a brick to support Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge’s Nature Center

The Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge (RNWR) are inviting community members to leave a lasting mark at the planned Community Nature Center by purchasing a commemorative brick.

The buy-a-brick fundraiser runs through Saturday, Oct. 18, and will help fund the Nature Exploration Area, an interactive outdoor space designed to connect people of all ages and abilities with nature. Purchased bricks will be installed at the center to honor families, milestones and shared commitments to conservation and education, a newsletter by Friends of RNWR stated.

The project is nearing its fundraising goal thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Keller Foundation. A portion of the grant, $25,000, is contingent on receiving matching funds from the community.

Planned features for the Nature Exploration Area include an outdoor classroom, wheelchair-accessible paths, tactile play zones, and nature-focused educational elements. The area is designed to meet U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service standards for inclusive, engaging public access.

Bricks are available for purchase from $50 to $200. To buy a brick or learn more, visit ridgefieldfriends.org.
