A Centralia man pleaded guilty last week to damaging an energy facility around Portland, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

Nathaniel Cheney, 31, and others caused $26,000 worth of damages to control equipment to the Sunnyside substation in Clackamas, states a Nov. 5 press release from the office.

Cheney was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2024.

As part of the plea agreement, Cheney has agreed to pay full restitution.

His sentencing is set for Feb. 18. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
