The Clark County Arts Commission will launch a new rotating speaker series this weekend, bringing arts-related presentations to communities throughout the county.

The first installment of the series called Arts Talk Live, will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at The Wheel Club in La Center. Clark County arts commissioner Margene Rivara will host the event.

The program will focus on filmmaking, with three Pacific Northwest filmmakers discussing their recent projects, creative processes and the technical aspects of producing films.

Carl Beyer, director of the recent Angel Studios theatrical release The Brink of War, will be joined by James Chick, a local filmmaker who produced the Mount St. Helens Bigfoot film Feet of Death. Independent filmmaker Craig McCourry, director of The Singularity Protocol, will also participate.

The event will be discussion-based, and no films will be screened during the program.

Rivara said the event is intended to bring arts programming to communities outside of downtown Vancouver.

The Wheel Club has a capacity of 108 people and is located at 1000 E. Fourth Street in La Center.

Arts Talk Live is part of the Arts Commission's effort to create a rotating series of presentations in communities across Clark County.
