Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey will not seek re-election

After more than two decades in office, Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey announced he will not seek re-election.

In a statement shared on social media, Kimsey said he considered retiring four years ago but chose to remain through the 2024 presidential election due to concerns surrounding election denial efforts. He said those concerns have since subsided.

“The Auditor’s Office is in really good shape. I have the highest level of confidence in the directors and staff in each of our departments. The recent expansion of the Elections Office work area should serve the county for at least the next 20 years. This is a good time for me to step away,” Kimsey said on Facebook.

Kimsey has served as Clark County auditor since January 1999. Earlier this year, he was named Washington’s Auditor of the Year by Secretary of State Steve Hobbs during the 2025 Washington State Association of County Auditors Elections Conference. Kimsey said he does not plan to retire fully and intends to continue serving the community in other ways.
