Clark County Fire Marshal Donna Goddard expanded the county’s outdoor burning ban to include recreational fires on Thursday, Aug. 21, due to dry conditions. The restriction applies to unincorporated areas and is effective immediately, a news release by Clark County stated.
The ban adds to the general outdoor burning prohibition implemented on July 3 and will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents may use self-contained camp stoves during the ban as a safe alternative for outdoor campfire cooking, the release stated.
Goddard also urged residents to create defensible space around homes by clearing dry vegetation, pruning trees and removing debris from roofs and gutters in the release. These steps reduce flammable material and lower wildfire risk.
