The Clark County Council voted unanimously Tuesday, July 15, to approve a contract with LRS Architects Inc. to begin design work tied to the fairgrounds master plan.
The firm will first focus on expanding the fairgrounds administration office, a priority project that has already been allocated funding. The architectural and engineering portion of that work is expected to cost $494,320.
“This initial project that we are going to be awarding to them under this contract is to the administration office edition,” Director of Internal Services Michelle Schuster told the council.
LRS Architects was selected from nine firms that submitted proposals through a formal selection process. County staff said the firm stood out for its specialized experience with fairgrounds facilities and multi-use spaces.
“LRS was selected due to their expertise and experience with Fairgrounds projects and master plans,” Schuster said. “They’re the only responder who has an on-site fairground specialist on staff.”
The contract also includes an option for the county to continue using LRS Architects for up to 10 years as additional projects from the master plan are implemented.
“With this contract, we can continue to add projects from the master plan once the council has approved budget for those future plans... so that we can continue the flow with the same company and get the design to flow nicely together,” she added.
The design phase is expected to commence soon, with construction of the expanded administration building anticipated to begin in 2026.
