The Clark County Green Business program announced its 2025 Green Awards winners in celebration of Earth Day on April 24. The awards recognize local businesses leading the way in environmental sustainability across four categories, a news release from Clark County stated.
PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center received the Seeds of Sustainability award for initiatives that include diverting surgical materials from landfills, composting food scraps, and cutting energy and water use. The medical center’s use of sterilizable items has reduced the need for 371 tons of disposable surgical supplies, the release stated.
Simply Thyme Catering earned the Sustainability Legacy award for its commitment to waste reduction through food scrap reuse, composting, and responsible plastic recycling. Any food item no longer fit for human consumption is fed to farm animals, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
TSMC Washington, a semiconductor manufacturer in Camas, received the Sustainability Trailblazer award for innovative practices such as zero-waste certification efforts, clean energy use, and a facility-wide waste sorting system. The manufacturer has operated on 100% renewable energy since 2018 and uses nine greenhouse gas abatement units to reduce emissions, the news release stated.
Evergreen Habitat for Humanity’s Clark County Store received the Community Champion award for diverting over 100 tons of waste annually and partnering with local organizations to creatively reuse unsellable items. The store also diverts more than 4,000 pounds of paint from landfills each year through its household waste recycling program.
