Clark County Public Works is reminding residents not to throw propane tanks or bottles into the trash or recycling as summer activities increase across the county.
With grilling, camping and backyard fire pit season underway, county officials said empty and partially full propane containers require special handling because they can pose a fire hazard if disposed of improperly.
Propane tanks and bottles should be taken to a household hazardous waste disposal site rather than placed in curbside garbage or recycling bins. Public Works said proper disposal helps prevent fires, protects waste and recycling workers, and keeps summer activities safer for residents.
