Clark County reminds residents of fireworks rules, safety

Clark County is reminding residents to follow local fireworks regulations and celebrate this Independence Day safely. In unincorporated areas, legal fireworks are permitted from 9 a.m. to midnight on Friday, July 4.

Battle Ground allows fireworks from 9 to 11 p.m. July 3 and from 9 a.m. to midnight July 4. Woodland and Yacolt also allow use on additional days leading up to the holiday, while Ridgefield, Camas and unincorporated Clark County limit fireworks to July 4 only. An interactive map and full schedule are available at shorturl.at/FGAsf.

Violating fireworks rules or using illegal fireworks can result in a $500 civil fine for first-time offenders, according to a Clark County news release.

Nuisance fireworks can be reported to the Clark Regional Emergency Services hotline at 360-696-2264 through Sunday, July 5. Residents are asked not to call 911 or 311 for nuisance fireworks and should instead reserve 911 for emergencies involving fire, injury or immediate danger.

Residents are encouraged to use extra caution when lighting fireworks, including keeping water nearby, staying away from dry vegetation and soaking used fireworks in water before disposal. Officials also recommend adult supervision, noting that children and young adults account for a large share of fireworks-related injuries.
