The Clark County Republican Party (CCRP) conducted its county convention on Saturday, March 16.

Of the delegates and alternates that were elected from the precinct caucus meetings, Feb. 3, 285 took part in making changes to the Republican Party platform and principles, a press release by the CCRP stated.

As well, 155 delegates were elected to advance to the Republican State Convention that will be held across the state in Spokane this month.

Washington state Republican Party Chairman and District 19 state Rep. Jim Walsh spoke to the delegates, alternates and guests, along with two of the CCRP’s endorsed candidates — Washington state governor candidate Semi Bird and Joe Kent, who is running for Congress in Washington’s Third Congressional District.

“The consensus of delegates in their legislative district caucuses overwhelmingly expressed their support for Semi Bird for governor and Joe Kent for Congress,” the release stated.

The delegates elected at the Clark County convention to attend the state convention have made their pledge to Donald Trump, the CCRP release stated. Washington state officially gave Donald Trump the necessary delegates to win the presidential nomination.
