The Clark County Public Utility District Board of Commissioners approved its annual budgets for its electric, generating and water systems for 2023. The budgets won’t require rate increases for customers.

The operating revenue budget for the electric system for 2023 is $411.9 million, which accounts for $16.8 million more than the 2022 budget, a news release from the utility stated. Power supply makes up about 60% of that budget, with operating and maintenance making up 18%.

The remainder comprises taxes, debt service, rate-funded capital and funding for energy efficiency programs, the release stated.

The generating system operating revenue budget was approved for $90.5 million in 2023, a 20% increase from this year, according to the release. The utility’s water system operating revenue saw a slight decrease of about $100,000, bringing the 2023 budget to $21.9 million.

“This budget exemplifies our commitment to our principles of outstanding service, reliability, responsibility and fiscal discipline,” Clark PUD commission president Nancy Barnes said in the release. “The fact that we continue to meet our growing community’s energy needs while on path to exceeding new state emissions reduction targets without raising rates since 2011 is a testament to the talents and competency of the people in this utility.”

For capital projects budgets, the electric and generating systems have a combined total budget of $82.2 million, the release stated. Projects in the budget include substation, transmission and distribution line construction and upgrades, as well as generating system improvements.

The $15.7 million capital budget for the water system has funds for reservoir and source enhancements and meters, as well as upgrades and investments in water main improvements
