The 12th annual Clark Public Utilities (CPU) Race for Warmth is right around the corner, and registration is open now through midnight on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The Race For Warmth is a community fundraising event benefitting Operation Warm Heart, taking place on Sunday, Jan. 25, this year. Since its creation in 1985, Operation Warm Heart has provided more than $5.1 million to nearly 20,000 customers experiencing financial crisis, a press release by CPU stated. The donor-funded program helps families in need who may not qualify for other assistance programs, CPU added.
The walk and run event features a timed 5K and 10K that starts and ends at Clark Public Utilities office at 1200 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver. The kid’s race around the parking lot starts at 8:30 a.m. The 10K run begins at 9 a.m. and follows a timed and flagger-controlled course through Fort Vancouver, along the Columbia River and the streets of downtown. The 5K walk/run begins at 9:10 a.m.
Last year’s event hosted a record-breaking 1,750 participants across all races.
After the race, participants are invited to stick around on-site at Clark Public Utilities for food and beverages provided by event partners, CPU stated.
Registration costs $40 and is available online at clarkpublicutilities.com/raceforwarmth. Day-of registration is available, but increases to $50 and preferred shirt sizes are not guaranteed, the release added.
“Every dollar of registration fees goes directly to Operation Warm Heart,” CPU stated.
Businesses looking for new ways to engage employees, promote wellness and showcase company values are invited to register groups of employees, CPU urged. All registrations are tax-deductible, and a discount of 25% is available for groups of 10 or more who register together.
Participants receive a long-sleeve performance shirt, bib number and drawstring race bag filled with gifts and coupons from our generous local business partners, CPU stated. Every runner and walker can also receive a detailed race receipt with their official time and ranking per age group.
The Race for Warmth is produced and hosted by Clark Public Utilities with support from local Businesses.
