Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue rescued a dog and three cats from a home in Woodland on Wednesday, Oct. 1, after a kitchen fire caused smoke.
After Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue engine 29 arrived at the scene, they suppressed the fire, and firefighters located the animals and evacuated them to safety, but all four pets — three cats and one dog — suffered smoke inhalation, according to an agency press release.
The pets are expected to make a full recovery, and there were no residents home at the time of the fire, which originated in the kitchen.
At around 10:15 a.m., a Woodland police officer noticed smoke coming from a home on Lewis River Road while on patrol, the notice states. Upon entering the house, the officer discovered a fire in the kitchen.
Woodland police say the fire occurred in the 1700 block of Lewis River Road.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office.
