U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, on Thursday, Feb. 6, announced she has introduced a bill aimed at laying bare the true costs of college tuition.
The Truth in Tuition Act would require any university that participates in federal student aid programs to provide a non-binding projection of tuition and fee costs for upcoming years.
Since tuition costs regularly rise each year, this bill seeks to make it possible for students to more reliably plan out their financial future.
“Deciding where to go to college, or whether to attend a trade school, is one of the first and most important decisions students can make as young adults,” Gluesenkamp Perez stated in a news release. “This legislation will help ensure they have all the information they need at the table when making these decisions.”
