U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, issued a news release this week saying she has crossed the $10 million mark for funds recovered for residents owed to them by federal agencies and has solved 2,800 constituent cases.
“When federal agencies aren’t being as responsive as they should be, or when our federal bureaucracy is just too difficult to navigate, it’s critical that you have someone in your corner,” Gluesenkamp Perez stated in the release.
“It’s why I’ve made it my priority from day one to be as accessible and useful to you as possible — and to have a bipartisan team that works hard to untangle complex problems, fiercely delivers results, and brings services to rural and urban communities across our district.”
Gluesenkamp Perez said the money was recovered from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
“This milestone is possible because of your willingness to reach out to us when you have a problem with a federal agency,” she stated. “Even if something seems like a small issue, when you let us know about it, it helps us identify systemic problems your neighbor might also be experiencing. It’s not only the dollars and cents of missing or delayed social security checks and tax returns — it’s also veterans’ health care, passport applications and military records in limbo.
Please continue to tell your friends, family and coworkers to give me a call when they’re having an issue with a federal agency — and I’ll keep fighting for a government that works effectively for you.”
Gluesenkamp Perez said she has closed 2,800 cases and recovered a total of $10,104,871 for Southwest Washington residents. The congresswoman said she has also responded to 241,595 letters, calls and emails from constituents.
Gluesenkamp Perez noted that she has held 24 sets of mobile office hours, across every county in Washington’s Third Congressional District.
Last year, Gluesenkamp Perez said she reached the $5 million mark for funds recovered for constituents.
