Gov. Ferguson appoints Jill Karmy to Cowlitz County Superior Court

Gov. Bob Ferguson has appointed Cowlitz County Superior Court Commissioner Jill Karmy to fill the seat of Superior Court Judge Marilyn Haan, who will resign Oct. 31. Karmy’s appointment takes effect Nov. 1.

Karmy has served as a superior court commissioner for more than three years and previously worked as a civil attorney and prosecutor. From 2014 to 2017, she served on the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors, including one year as treasurer. She earned her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School, a news release by Ferguson stated.

“Jill Karmy has deep roots in the southwest corner of our state doing exceptional work on behalf of Washingtonians,” Ferguson said in the news release. “Her expertise and passion for public service will serve Washington well on the Cowlitz County Superior Court bench.”
