In loving memory of Billy Voshell 1939-2023

Billy (Bill) Voshell, 83, of La Center, Washington, went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Oct. 17, 2023, after some time in failing health.

He was born in Atwood, Colorado, on Dec. 21, 1939, to Al and Iva Voshell and was the fourth of six children. Jim Voshell, the oldest, is his only surviving sibling. Bill attended school in the Tacoma area, then the family moved to Yakima where he graduated from West Valley High School.

Bill and Anne Marie were married Nov. 12, 1960. They have three sons, Arlen (Donna), Glenn, who passed away in December 2009, and Leslie. Also, Brent (Kathy) Murray and Dick Smith, who are our extended family. He has been blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with them.

He started his career at Boeing Aircraft, then moved to La Center in 1964 and retired from Longview Fibre paper mill as a millwright in 1999. He enjoyed his 40-acre farm, livestock and his kids. Bill and Anne were blessed to be able to travel a great deal in their retirement years.

Bill was a member of Mountain View Christian Center. He spent many hours along with a number of others as the new church was built in the late 70s. The Royal Rangers ministry (“Boy Scouts” of the church) was a major joy of his life, training and teaching boys. His travels took him on mission trips to several countries to share God’s love and see God’s wonders of the world.

A memorial service is scheduled to be held for noon Saturday. Nov. 11, at Mountain View Christian Center, at 2810 NE 259th St., Ridgefield, Washington.

In life's eventide, at twilight, at his door I'll knock and wait; by the precious blood of Jesus, I shall enter Heaven's gate.
