In loving memory of Butch Blue: 1946-2025

Clois Murrell Blue Jr., better known as Butch Blue, 79, passed away on Jan. 29, 2025, in Spirit Lake, Idaho. 

Born on Dec. 5, 1946, Clois dedicated his life to his family and coaching.

A native of Castle Rock, Washington, Butch graduated from Washington State University and Central Washington University. His career as a coach, teacher and administrator spanned over three decades at Battle Ground High School. His remarkable contributions to sports and education were recognized in 2011 when he was inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame. After his tenure at Battle Ground, he played a pivotal role in developing the athletic program at Kingsway Christian Schools and served as an administrator.

Butch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend known for his belief that "attitude is everything" in accordance with Philippians 4:4-9

He is survived by his three children, Casey (wife Kantra) and their children Kai, Levi and Sina; his son, Travis; and his daughter, Maggie Pete (husband Kyle) and their children Luke and Mazie. 

He also leaves behind his sister, Jackie Schwinn, and brothers, Kenny and Michael Neuschwanger. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Fay Saunders and Clois Murrell Blue Sr, and his beloved wife, Lorna, who passed away in 2020.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Reign Church, 11608 NE 107th St., Vancouver, Washington.
