Calvin William Schurman of Brinnon, Washington (previously from Woodland Washington) died on Dec. 26, 2022 at the age of 98 years at his home on Hood Canal. Cal was born on Feb. 9, 1924 on the Highland family farm outside of Woodland.
He was preceded in death by parents, brothers and sisters, and his beloved wife Barbara. Barbara and Calvin were married for 75 years. He is survived by his five children, Rebecca (Paul), Benita, Deborah (Erik), Jannette (John), Bradford (Traci); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Calvin was a farmer, an electrician and a “jack of all trades.” He retired from the Longview Fibre Paper Mill in 1986. “Grandpa Cal'' will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His energy and boundless curiosity were a gift to all in his web of relationships.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Summit Grove Lodge Event Center in Ridgefield, Washington from between 1 to 4 p.m. on April 15 for a time of storytelling, tears, remembrances, laughter and treats. A private service and burial will be held earlier.
